Forest Floor, 8 x 10
Another attempt at a very close up view. It's busier than I had planned, but there are some aspects of this that I do consider successful.
It's the little successes that keep me painting!
By the way, the green plant is called Creeping Cedar. It is only about 3-4 inches tall and is considered an endangered plant in Virginia. I consider myself lucky, because it grows quite abundantly in my woods and the adjacent woods. I also consider myself fortunate to be able to paint something that may not be around in years to come.

Absolutely stunning...should be in some handout regarding the endangered-ness of it. Very, very nice.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Dan. It may be busier than you planned, but it's not a busy painting, and it looks like a success on all levels to me.
ReplyDeleteThe Creeping Cedar looks like a little fern, and so soft. It also makes a great subject for a plein air still life painting :).
Wow, I think you did a fantastic job on this! I am in awe! I agree, it would be great on the cover of a handout regarding the endangered-ness of it. wow... fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm glad you all like it, and thanks. I did do some illustration work like this when I worked for the state.
